In Memory of Jim Jenks, the founder of Ocean Pacific

We are saddened to learn that Jim Jenks, the founder of Ocean Pacific, passed away on Sunday. He was 83. Jim was a true visionary who helped create modern surf culture with the industry defining label, OP, in 1972. Not only did he create a groundbreaking brand that fused surf, fashion, art, and music, he was instrumental in bringing professional surfing to the US with Op PRO. Many waves later, OP continues his vision, aways searching for inspiration through life on the board.

THE STARTER BRAND LAUNCHES NEW HERITAGE INSPIRED FOOTWEAR COLLECTION

Starter, the premium athletic brand established in 1971 and owned by Iconix International is launching a new footwear collection. The Starter brand has always been a pioneer in the fusion of fashion and sports; it the brand enters the footwear category leveraging 50 years of equity, originality, and authenticity. Starter is one of the original brands to recognize that sport is more than the team; it’s a state-of-mind, shared spirit, and a life-long bond. This ideal defines their heritage and shapes the brand today.

Nodding to both retro and athletic-inspired design, the collection will hook back to the Starter brand’s favorite fan gear. The collection consists of 6 silhouettes. The LFS1 launches in December, with the expanded collection launching early Spring 2023. Additional silhouettes include the Breakaway 88 Low and Mid, Tradition 71 Hi and Low, and the Team Trainer 92 Low. The styles range from genuine leather to colorful canvas uppers, all featuring mesh lining and durable rubber outsoles for all-day comfort. Colorways match back to the classic and core team colorways of Starter’s iconic satin jackets to create a head-to-toe hookup.

The LFS1 is currently available at Starter.com, and select retailers including Eblens, Athletes Foot, WSS, Superior, Cool Jays, Strike, Sports City, and House of Style. They will retail between $50 – $85.

WAVERLY THE AUTHORITY IN HOME DESIGN, GEARS UP TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS

Iconix International is preparing to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of its premier home brand, Waverly, in 2023. This upcoming Home Textiles Market will feature the Waverly brand anniversary print collection which will unveil the brand’s updated design point of view, further cementing its place as the industry authority for color and pattern.

 

Founded in 1923, the Waverly brand goal was for the American consumer to have access to design for their homes without the use of a decorator. The brand is known for its signature mix- and-match aesthetic, allowing the consumer to personally curate their own home. While the brand has its origins in fabric and wallcoverings, their expansion throughout the decades to bedding, window treatments, decorative accessories, and more have created the immersive world of Waverly that consumers know today.

Starter x Palace Collaborate on a Capsule Collection

The Starter brand has teamed up with skateboard and apparel brand Palace on a capsule collection centered around football inspired styles that synergize oversized and skate-ready clothing.  The key staples include football jersey, nylon warm up pullover, breakaway jacket, snapback cap and T’s. Both brands’ logos appear across black /white and mint color ways with the classic Starter font.

 

Starter, established in 1971, pioneered the fusion of sports clothing with popular culture by forging partnerships with major professional sports leagues including the NFL, NBA, NHL, and more. It all began with an iconic star logo and the idea that “Every athlete dreams of being a starting player.” But Starter didn’t stop at athletes, they extended across cultural lines, drawing influence from sport, music, and pop culture. Through the 80s and 90s it truly cemented its place in pop culture with major movie stars and the hip hop scene. Today the brand has just celebrated its 50th anniversary and continues to compete in the global sports & fashion arena.

 

Starter and Palace’s collaboration is set for both in-store and online releases starting August 12, 11 a.m EDT on the brand’s official webstore, and in Japan on August 13, 11 a.m JST on the Palace Japan webstore, and on the official “Palace_Skateboards” WeChat store August 13, 11 a.m CST.

Kohl’s (NYSE: KSS) has announced a new partnership with Buffalo David Bitton, which is owned by Iconix International, to bring premium and responsibly-made denim styles to customers just in time for fall. Available through January, 2023 in over 600 stores and online at Kohls.com, Kohl’s brings Buffalo David Bitton, a leading denim brand celebrating its 50th anniversary, to customers with styles and fits for men and women. The addition of the Buffalo David Bitton brand comes as Kohl’s continues to diversify and bolster its denim assortment with premium and style-led offerings for the casual lifestyle.

ICONIX OPENS GLOBAL CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN PALM BEACH

Iconix International Inc. (formerly Iconix Brand Group, Inc.) has relocated its global corporate headquarters from New York City to Palm Beach, Florida. Iconix will maintain its New York City location to support global brand management and licensing operations.

The move to 251 Royal Palm Way, Suite 600, Palm Beach, FL 33480, follows on Iconix’s take-private transaction, completed in August 2021, and expands Iconix’s North American footprint to a location deeply connected to a year-round active lifestyle. The move also puts Iconix closer to its investor base and many of its new and potential global operating partners that have relocated full or part-time to Florida since 2020.
